We were looking in south westerly direction past the statue of Pericles Distribuant les Couronnes aux Artistes found in the Demi-lune Reserve sud garden area, when we took this photo within the Grand Carre area of the Jardin des Tuileries.

However, beyond this you can also see a wall of this former royal garden that leads to the Terrasse du Bord de l'Eau, which was designed so that the royal family and their court could also enjoy elevated views that look over the River Seine, which were a part of the original plans by the landscape architect Andre Le Notre.
