HD photograph of Exedre Sud pond inside Jardin des Tuileries looking south easterly - Page 232
Here you can see a view looking over the Exedre Sud and the statue of Venus Callipyge as we were looking in a south easterly direction over the pond towards one of the several restaurants located in a tranquil area within the Tuileries Gardens.
Now this is the south exedre, which is spelt exedra in English and is a term used for a semicircular recess or plinth in architecture that is often used within a building or for an area like a platform which originated in ancient Greek and Roman times, yet was one of the features implemented into the redesign of the Jardin des Tuileries after the French Revolution.
