Hedges have been used for centuries to define specific areas of a garden or for labyrinths, etc, and when the Jardin du Carrousel section of the Tuileries Gardens was re-laid out, boxwood hedges were also put in place to keep with tradition.

So this is a view looking in a easterly direction from the Carrousel Gardens towards the Place du Carrousel where you will find the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, which was constructed by Napoleon I as a gateway in the courtyard between the former Tuileries Palace and The Louvre.
