This is a view looking in an easterly direction next to an exedra called the Exedra Nord, which is a pond with a stone semi-circular platform located in the Grand Couvert area of the Jardin des Tuileries that has copies of historical statues positioned within it, yet there are also modern art sculptures within the gardens, just like the one in this photograph.

In fact, under the French President, Jacques Chirac, it was decided in 1998 that several modern art sculptures would be added to the historical Tuileries Gardens, and this followed in the year 2000 with additional contemporary art works by artists living at the time, which included this one called Manus Ultimus.
