HD photograph of Petit Reserve sud inside Jardin des Tuileries looking south westerly - Page 305
We were in the Grand Carre area of the Tuileries Gardens when we took this photograph looking in a south westerly direction over one of the parterres called the Petit Reserve sud, located on the southern side of the gardens close to the River Seine, and in the distance you can see steps leading up to one of the terraces called the Terrasse du Bord de l'Eau.

But to give you a little more of an idea about what a parterre is, this is a term used for within a French formal garden where an area is laid out in a geometrical pattern and each section is divided up with borders of planting beds or paths, which were designed to be seen from above, like from the royal palace or a terrace, which Andre Le Notre perfected at the Chateau de Versailles and designed for the Jardin des Tuileries.
