Statuary and stone vases have been a feature within royal gardens for many centuries, which started off in France based upon the Italian Renaissance style, especially after the French Kings visiting palace gardens in Florence, Rome, etc, which then became a French Renaissance Garden, but later turned into what is referred to as a Jardin a la Francaise.

So here we was looking south westerly over the Carre de fer nord garden section of Tuileries Gardens with one of the many stone vases or plant pots that adorns the gardens, and you will see this type of statuary at other gardens like the Palais du Luxembourg and the Chateau de Versailles, yet incredibly, there are two very old vases that originated from the gardens of the Versailles castle.
