This time we were at the Cour du Carrousel of the Musee du Louvre in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris when we took these high definition photos showing a statue called La Chasse, which was sculpted by Charles Lebourg.

So the statue entitled Le Chasse is located on the Aile en Retour Mollien, which is one of the many wings belonging to the Musee du Louvre, and in this first HD photo you can see that it is located in the corner on the right hand side by the roof line next to the Pavillon de Tremoille that can be seen from the Cour du Carrousel, even though the wing itself is classed as within the Cour Napoleon.
Now Le Chasse translates in English to The Hunt and this is known as an allegorical statue depicting a certain theme, which was put in place on the former Palais du Louvre during the many updates and restoration works that took place in the 1850s and 1860s, yet a plaster model is conserved at another famous tourist attraction in Paris called the Musee d'Orsay.
However, in this next close up HD photo of Le Chasse you can see the young stag even more clearly, which is one of the allegory features of this statue, which is also sometimes referred to as Hunting, that was produced by Charles Lebourg who was born in 1829 in Nantes within the Pays de la Loire region of France.
And although Charles Lebourg did receive public commissions for statues, sculptures, bas reliefs and portrait statues like this one of The Hunt, he is most well recognised for designing and sculpting some of the original Wallace Fountains that can be found in Paris and throughout many other cities, also still continuing to present works at different Paris Salons for French artists until two years before he passed away in Paris.
