Each of the gilded golden statues that sit on top of the 17 metre high socles or columns were designed along a specific theme to make this part of the construction of the Pont Alexandre III bridge more ornate and eye catching, as these columns act as counterweights for the stability of this bridge in Paris, and this image shows the golden statue called Renommee des Sciences, which is one of the four sculptures known as Pegasus Held By Fame.
