Les Piaules Hostel in Paris
This is a hostel in Paris located within the 11th Arrondissement where there are shared dorms with their custom made beds, although there are private double rooms available, plus they offer different breakfasts along with having a bar and food available, not forgetting a roof terrace, 24 hour reception, free WiFi and more.
About Les Piaules
Les Piaules is a hostel in Paris where they have custom beds within the dorms that they have named Plumard, which comes from discussions between the owners who have spent numerous nights in hostels around the world and wanted to offer comfort and practicality to its guests.
You will find a 24 hour reception with multilingual staff and a city expert desk so that you can get the most out of your holiday in Paris, whether it be for a tour, seeing a show, enjoying one of the cabarets, museums, the numerous cafes and restaurants, etc, plus there is free high speed WiFi for added convenience and keeping in touch with friends and family back home.
There is a lift to access all floors plus there is a printer available at reception so you have peace of mind being able to print off airport boarding passes, etc and the staff can also organise airport transfers for you, if you do not wish to use the public transport system to get back to either Orly or Charles de Gaulle.
Lockers are available, but you do need to have a padlock, yet if you have forgotten to bring one with you, these can be purchased from reception and as well as within the rooms, there are lockers also available within the lobby so that you can leave your belongings for a few hours, whether it be before your bed or room is available at 3pm or after check-out at midday.
When it comes to relaxation or meeting likeminded people there is a lounge called the Chimney Lounge located next to the enormous bar area with seating where you can enjoy a drink or something to eat, plus you could have a game of table football or enjoy one of the arcade machines.
In addition, there is a roof top terrace where you can enjoy views to numerous different tourist attractions in Paris such as the Sacre Coeur Basilica, the historical Notre Dame Cathedral or the famous landmark of the Eiffel Tower.
But getting back to the bar, this is open from 7am through to midnight and 2am on a Friday and Saturday night where you can enjoy a variety of different wines, beer and cider on tap, homemade slushies or even a bottle of champagne. You could also enjoy a snack such as pate or summer truffle, a hot dish such as Croque-Monsieur or a platter to share consisting of cheeses, charcuterie or a mixed platter.
Breakfast is also available at Les Piaules Hostel and you have a wide choice depending upon your tastes and budget from the basic hot drink and a croissant for around €3 through to the BadAss Breakfast.
With the BadAss Breakfast ranging in cost from around €7 to €10 you get a hot drink and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Then you choose between the French Option of all you can eat bread with accompaniments plus a crepe or croissant, the Healthy Option of Muesli and organic yoghurt, or you have the ultimate called the Salty Option. The Salty Option consists of all you can eat bread with accompaniments plus scrambled eggs, dried ham and Comte cheese that has been aged between 18 and 24 months.
There are of course additional hot beverages including a variety of Dammann Freres Teas, soft drinks, fizzy drinks, and a variety of items for those you with a sweet tooth such as muffins, chocolate cake, cookies, and crepes that you can purchase individually and most of these items are available throughout the day and not just for breakfast.
Accommodation at Les Piaules
Fully air conditioned and free WiFi throughout the entire building, we mentioned earlier that Les Piaules Hostel has dorms with custom made bunkbeds, which they have named the Plumard.
Each of these bunk beds has a quality mattress and is set at a slightly different level, meaning that you are not head to toe etc making you feel more private, plus the Plumard beds come with blackout blinds, a reading light, power plug charging point and integrated lockers.
When it comes to the dorms at the Les Piaules Hostel, you will find that these are all with shared bathrooms and come with bed linen supplied, however you do need to have your own towel, so please bear this in mind.
The first type of dorm is called the Rockband Dorm for four people, then there is the 6-Pack, where you have the option of a mixed dorm for 6 people or a female only dorm and then there is The Big One, which has 8 beds.
There is also another on the rooftop with the Plumard bunkbeds, which is referred to as the Rockband Dorm On The Rooftop and this also comes with its own private bathroom.
However, for those of you travelling as a couple, if you want more privacy you can opt for a double room called The Cosy One, which has its own private bathroom, a work desk and even a coffee machine and this is charged per room, rather than per bed for staying in a dorm room.
Yet the ultimate in comfort at Les Piaules, is called The Cosy One On The Rooftop and again designed as a double room with en suite private bathroom, this comes with towels provided, a work desk, coffee machine, Bluetooth speakers and rooftop access for the fabulous views of Paris and its monuments that we mentioned earlier.
Access to Les Piaules
Located in the 11th Arrondissement close to the Pere Lechaise Cemetery and the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, when it comes to getting to this hostel via public transport in Paris, you will find that the nearest Metro station is the Couronnes stop serving line 2. Yet in the opposite direction you have the Belleville stop serving lines 2 and 11.
However, still within walking distance of Les Piaules Hostel in Paris in a westerly direction going over the Canal Saint Martin and you will reach the large Metro station called the Republique stop, which serves lines 3, 5, 8, 9 and 11.
Yet the nearest RER station is actually the Gare de l'Est train station serving the RER E line along with Intercities trains and high speed trains to many other destinations some in France, Germany, plus Luxembourg and even Russia, etc.
Alternatively, the Paris bus lines 20, 71 and 96 along with the Noctilien lines N12 and N23 will all get you within walking distance of this hostel in Paris, and for those of you who are night owls, the Noctilien is one transport system you may need, as this is the Night Bus Service that runs when other transport has stopped for the early hours.
