We were at the Palais de la Decourverte part of the Grand Palais in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris, when we took these high definition photos of a statue called La Musique along with a bas relief sculpture, which were sculpted by Tony Noel.

La Musique statue by Edme Anthony Paul Noel
This first HD photo shows the statue called La Musique, which is an allegory that translates in English to The Music, and this was one of the numerous statues sculpted specifically for the Grand Palais for the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris.

But in this image you can see not just The Music statue, but also the ornate bas-relief above, which is located on the facade of the Palais de la Decourverte section of the Grand Palais, and these were both produced by the same artist Edme Anthony Paul Noel, who is normally just known as Tony Noel.

Now Edme Anthony Paul Noel, or Tony Noel was born in Paris in the January of 1845 and studied to become a French sculptor under famous sculptors at the Ecole des Beaux Arts including Eugene Lequesne and Eugene Guillaume, winning the Prix de Rome 1868, and he was one of several different artists that received commissions for the Grand Palais.

So, upon his return from furthering his studies in Rome, Tony Noel received numerous commissions for public works including different monuments that can be found all over France in museums and places such as the Chateau Chantilly, gaining many awards along the way including the Legion of Honour and a medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition, plus he became a professor at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1905.

Yet this photo shows the emblem located on the protruding base of La Musique statue, which has a mascaron at the top surrounded by laurel, and originally there was meant to be a small sculpture in the middle of this, no doubt as an allegory or on a mythical theme that Edme Anthony Paul Noel loved to produce, even though he is just as well recognised for his portrait statues of famous people.

And in this last photograph you can see the sign stating the Avenue du General Eisenhower, however, the statue itself is located on the western facade, which is actually along the Avenue Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

So, to give you even more of an idea as to the location of La Musique statue, this is on the facade by the corner to the left hand side of the Palais de la Decouverte entrance of the Grand Palais, in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris.
