Fourth relief sculpture Palais de Chaillot
The Palais de Chaillot was constructed for the 1937 Universal Exhibition in Paris on the site where the old Palais de Trocadero had stood, and there were numerous different artists and sculptors commissioned to produce works for the facades of this building, that is positioned at the top of the Trocadero Gardens.

Now this next close up HD photo shows one of several bas reliefs that were commissioned, and as you can see from where it has been signed in the bottom left hand corner, this one was sculpted by Claude Grange, who was born in Vienne, Isere in 1883, and being close to Lyon, this is where he initially studied to become a French sculptor.

Claude Grange then went to Paris to study at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, winning the Prix de Rome in 1913, but unfortunately his stay at the Villa Medici was interrupted due to being called up to serve in World War I, yet after the war he was commissioned for several war memorials and monuments, which is what he is most recognised for.

Yet later in his career, Claude Grange became a member of the Academy of Fine Arts, and in 1853 became its president, also receiving the Grand Prize of the Society of French Artists two years before passing away in Paris in 1971.

So this last image shows the location of the bas relief on the Palais de Chaillot central wing below the Esplanade de Trocadero, and it is positioned as fourth from the left hand side above one of the picture windows that provide an impressive view to the Eiffel Tower from the restaurant of the Theatre de Chaillot.
