HD photographs of Le Genie de la peinture statue on the Petit Palais in Paris - Page 619
We were in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris at the Petit Palais, when we took these high definition photos showing a statue called Le Genie de la peinture, which was sculpted by Charles Rene de Saint-Marceaux.

This first HD photo shows Le Genie de la peinture, which translates in English to The Genius of painting, however, looking like an angel, this allegorical statue is also sometimes referred to as the Spirit of painting, which was sculpted for the Petit Palais in 1900.
Now this next image shows a close up of Le Genie de la peinture with the detailing that went into producing this, which was by Charles Rene de Saint-Marceaux who was born in Reims in 1845, but moved to Paris to study at the Ecole des Beaux Arts when he was eighteen.
Charles Rene de Saint-Marceaux studied under Francois Jouffrey and he went into the line of producing portrait busts, yet also sculpted several statues for Baron Rothschild to adorn the Chateau de Ferrieres located just outside of the city.
However, as well as this statue on the Petit Palais, there are also other monuments that were sculpted by this artist, which you can discover at tourist attractions in Paris such as within the Musee d'Orsay, although probably his most famous work produced in bronze and granite is actually located in Switzerland, and was erected six years before Charles Rene de Saint-Marceaux passed away in Paris in 1915.
But this last photograph provides more of an idea as to the location of the Genius of painting statue, which is located on the main western facade of the Petit Palais that faces onto the Avenue Winston Churchill, and this is the statue to the left hand side above the entrance close to the cupola and roof.
