HD photographs of Histoire statue on the Petit Palais in Paris - Page 615
We were back in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris at the Petit Palais, when we took these high definition photos showing a statue called Histoire, which was sculpted by Charles Desvergnes.

This first photograph shows the statue group called Histoire, which translates in English to History, and this is located above the pediment with its clock to the left hand side of the Petit Palais facade along the balustrade near to the roof and one of the chimneys.
Now this particular ornate stone statue was sculpted by Charles Desvergnes who was born in Bellegarde within the Centre region of France, now known as Centre-Val de Loire, and the son of a baker, he started making models out of the dough.
Becoming recognised for his talent he managed to pass the entry exam to study at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, with his scholarship being funded by his home town, and winning the Prix de Rome in 1889 he furthered his studies at the Villa Medici, prior to returning to France where Charles Desvergnes started to receive numerous commissions.
So Charles Desvergnes received the commission for this statue of Histoire and the one opposite on the same facade of the Petit Palais, yet he is most well known for the amount of different memorials he produced that were dedicated to those that lost their lives in France during World War I, and numerous war memorials sculpted by him can be found all over France.
Yet he is also well known for statue of Joan of Arc and other statues for churches, although Charles Desvergnes also gave a collection to his home town of Bellegarde, but when he passed away in 1928, his very last work for a cathedral had to be finished by other artists working within his studio.
And this last image shows the location of the History statue on the facade located at the back, or eastern side of the Petit Palais, which looks out onto the Avenue Dutuit and part of the Jardins des Champs Elysees with a fountain and the well known Pavillon Ledoyen, which are other tourist attractions in Paris.
