HD photographs of Sainte Jeanne de Valois statue on Eglise Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois - Page 711



This time we were admiring the Eglise Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois located in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris, when we took these high definition photos showing a statue of Sainte Jeanne de Valois, which was sculpted by Louis Desprez.

This first HD photo shows the statue of Sainte Jeanne de Valois that is located on the facade of the Eglise Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois, and this was sculpted by Louis Desprez, who was born in 1799 and became a pupil of Francois Jospeh Bosio at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.

Now this next image shows a close up of the inscription underneath the statue of Sainte Jeanne de Valois, known in English as Joan of Valois, or through the Roman Catholic church as Saint Jane of Valois who passed away back in 1505 and although originally only blessed, Pope Benedict XIV Beatified her in 1742, and in 1950 Pope Pius XII Canonised her.

But this image shows the location of the statue of Sainte Jeanne de Valois, which was put in place in 1841 on the historical porch of the church that is located opposite the Musee du Louvre, when was being restored during the 1840s, and you will find that Louis Desprez also worked on other statues for the Eglise Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois that had been vandalised during the French Revolution.
