The Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge across the River Seine and in this photo you can see the bastions often used in fortifications, which are the semi-circular parts in between the arches that just out and provide seating areas, which have been used as meeting places for centuries and what has made this bridge such a famous tourist attraction in Paris.
