Ossip Zadkine was a Russian sculptor that studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, yet classified himself more French and throughout his life he produced numerous statues and sculptures in different styles from abstract to surrealism and expressionism to contemporary, and this is a photo we took of one of his works that was produced in bronze in 1956.

Ossip Zadkine bronze statue
Below you can see a close up photo showing this bronze statue in Paris that was produced by the artist Ossip Zadkine, and as you can tell from this picture with his name carved onto the base, it was completed in 1956 and is called Promethee, which translates to Prometheus.

It was when we were walking around Paris that we came across this particular statue, which we did not even realise existed, and this next photo we took of this mysthical and rather abstract bronze sculpture of Prometheus by Ossip Zadkine, was taken in the 6th Arrondissement at Place Saint-Germain des Pres while standing on the opposite side of the road next to where a church of a former abbey stands.

You will find that in mythology, Prometheus stole fire from the gods to be used by humans, and this HD photograph of the Prometheus bronze statue sculpted by Ossip Zadkine called Promethee, shows his artisic interpretation of this mythological figure as he is holding the fire, and to visit this statue you will find this close to numerous shops and cafes at Place Saint-Germain des Pres.
