Solar Hotel - 1 Star unusual accommodation
The Solar Hotel is a 1 Star hotel that was the first green ecologically friendly hotel located in Paris, which provides guests with budget accommodation at an affordable price that includes breakfast and the free use of bikes plus a garden for added relaxation.
About the Solar Hotel
Located in the 14th Arrondissement of Paris and having been running for over 20 years, the rooms were completely renovated in 2014 to provide basic budget accommodation with a desk and a small en suite bathroom.
The concept of the Solar Hotel is to be as green as possible, so you will find recycling bins dotted all over the hotel, solar panels on the facade that are utilised to illuminate the courtyard garden with water collectors to water the plants, plus they use completely 100 percent certified organic cleaning products, and to decorate the hotel solvent free paint and recycled materials have been used.
When it comes to breakfast, which is included within the room price, this is again completely organic and is a typical basic continental breakfast utilising fair trade products and local produce, also ensuring a minimal amount of packaging, such as jars of jam, rather than individual little tubs.
The Solar Hotel also has free bikes that guests can utilise, plus there are computers with internet access and WiFi internet access in the communal areas such as the lobby, yet they have kept this to a minimum, so you may not be able to access the WiFi within many rooms.
But there is even a small kitchen area with fridge and microwave so you can even bring your own food in, to enjoy in the garden or eat within the breakfast room, which is ideal for those on a budget.
Rooms at the Solar Hotel
There are a total of twenty-two rooms designed for one or two people and two rooms designed for three to four people, which have been equipped with a desk, TV and Satellite channels and storage made from recyclable material, that provide basic accommodation on a budget.
The rooms at the Solar Hotel also have a small en suite bathroom with a shower and toilet, which have been designed like a wet room, with a hairdryer available at reception, and the rooms are all set to one price including the organic breakfast, so there are no hidden extras.
Access to the Solar Hotel
The Solar Hotel is located in the 14th Arrondissement of Paris close to the Gare Denfert-Rochereau train station where you can access the RER B Line and the Metro Lines 4 and 6.
However, the Paris bus Lines 38, 59, 68, 88, 216 and the Noctilian night bus service numbers N14 and N21 will also get you close by, but if you are flying into Paris via Orly Airport, then you can access the Orly Bus from directly outside the train station to the airport and vice versa.
