Photos of the sculptures on Fontaine des Fleuves at Place de la Concorde Paris France - Page 13

Having walked down the Champs Elysees avenue we reached the largest square in Paris and while we were there admiring the numerous statues at the Place de la Concorde, we took this photo of a section of one of the two ornate fountains that are located either side of the Luxor Obelisk, and these were designed by Jacques Ignace Hittorff to represent the Rivers of France and the Seas.

Place de la Concorde sculptures on the fountain
Even though the fountains at the Place de la Concorde were designed by Hittorff, there were several sculptors that contributed to the finished results that you can still admire today, and this is a photo we took showing a part of the northern fountain that depicts navigation and commerce in rivers in France and just one of the sculptors that worked on this monument with its statues included Jean-Jacques Feuchere.

This is a close up photo we took of two of the statues at the Place de la Concorde that are situated within one of the fountains, which is called the Fontaine des Fleuves, or the Fountain of Rivers, which as we have mention before, was designed by Jacques Ignace Hittorff in the 1800s.

Yet you can also see one of the eight statues behind that represents one of the cities in France, that are located at each of the points within this square in Paris.
