Photo of the Gendarmerie, or military police at Hotel les Invalides in Paris - Page 8

We were visiting Les Invalides on a beautiful day during the warmer months, yet this military complex, which was constructed centuries ago as a home for war veterans and those injured in battle, was not at all crowded, even though it is now home to museums and the Tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte I, but as we were walking around in the main courtyard of honour called the Cour d'Honneur in French, we took this photo looking towards the many cannons on display just as two of the Gendarmerie, or military police were walking by, and from what we can gather, it is this division who still maintain order within this institution, rather than the normal civilian police force.
