We took this photo on the platform of the metro station called the Palais Royal - Musee du Louvre stop, which is located by these two famous tourist attractions in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris.

And as you can see, at this particular station there are barriers at the edge, which automatically open when the metro train has stopped, and the reason for these, rather than it being open like many stations, is due to the fact that there is quite a gap between the platform and train, so this is an additional safety measure, along with an announcement that comes over warning people of this as well.
