Fishing is no doubt one of the most popular sports throughout the world, and there has been a major revival for fishing in Paris, and in this first photo you can see a father and son fishing on the River Seine, which was on an outcrop of the Quai des Tuileries, upstream from the Pont Royal as though you were heading towards the Pont du Carrousel.

Fishing the River Seine Paris
Now many people think that the River Seine is not clean enough to hold many fish, but from 1999 through to the early part of the 2000s there was a major clean up programme, which then extended to places such as the Canal Saint Martin, and this has meant that fishing has taken off in a big way again in Paris.

However, we would like to point out that you do have to have a permit called a Carte de Peche in order to fish in Paris, yet even if you are not a resident, there are options for a holiday permit, or even a day ticket, so if you want to try something different while relaxing along the river bank or canal, then this could be for you.
