About Les Toits du Marais B&B
You will find this B&B located within a building that dates back to the 1600s when it was constructed at the same time as the Place Royale was put in place, which became known as the Place des Vosges after the French Revolution, and the building itself has been classed as an historical monument.
The B&B is situated on the fourth floor and fifth floor of the building and unfortunately there is no lift due to the historical nature of the property, and it is owned and run by Marie-Christine who will be your host, and she is welcoming and willing to offer advice on the best places to visit, where to eat, how to get to different Paris tourist attractions, museums and so on.
The breakfast room has views over the roof tops of Paris and in this room for those of you who know how to play, there is a piano you can utilise, and as you would expect, this is where the traditional French breakfast is served each morning, consisting of fresh bread and pastries with accompaniments such as jams, along with fruit juice, hot beverages and a boiled egg.
Rooms at Les Toits du Marais
The first room is called Room Revolution that is decorated with warm tones and has a 140cm wide bed, wardrobe, well stocked bookcase with numerous books and guides along with a courtesy tray for making tea and coffee.
The second room is called the Room Victor Hugo decorated in a more vibrant style and again has a bookcase with numerous books, magazines and guide books, abed of 140cm in width, plus a sink within the room along with a courtesy tray for making your own tea and coffee.
Each of these Paris B&B rooms is located on the fourth floor, have access to the WiFi, which is completely free of charge, you just need to request the password, and a child bed can be added to the room if requested at the time of booking. The shower and toilet is shared between these two rooms.
Le Toits du Marais also has a studio apartment situated under the roof of the building on the fifth floor where you can admire the old wooden beams, which has an area of approximately 15 metres squared containing a kitchenette with items such as fridge, microwave, courtesy tray, tableware, cutlery and utensils along with a folding table and a bathroom containing shower and toilet.
There are also two single mattresses that can be placed within this studio plus on the mezzanine level accessed by a steep set of stairs like a ladder, you will find a space of approximately 5 metres squared that has a small double bed.
Access to Les Toits du Marais
Located in the Marais area in the 3rd Arrondissement, this bed and breakfast is within walking distance of numerous tourist attractions and museums in Paris such as the Maison Victor Hugo, which one of the rooms is named after.
You will find that the nearest Metro station Chemin Vert stop via metro line 8 but others within walking distance are the Saint-Paul stop serving metro line 1 to the south west, the Bastille stop serving Paris metro lines 1, 5 and 8 to the south east, the Breguet - Sabin stop serving metro line 5 directly to the east and the Filles du Calvaire to the north serving metro line 8.
Alternatively, still using Paris public transport, the Paris bus lines 29 and 96 are closer than even the Chemin Vert metro stop, but other bus lines 69, 76 and 91 along with the Noctilien Night Bus Service via lines N01, N02, N11 and N16 will get you even closer to this welcoming B&B in Paris than the other Metro stations mentioned, plus there is a Velib station for the Paris bike rental a very short distance away.
Now when it comes to checking in, Marie-Christine is flexible on the times and will do her best to accommodate you for your arrival and departure, but she does not accept credit card, so it is either cash or bank transfer, plus as we mentioned earlier, this B&B is not accessible to the disabled.
