The Garden of the Port de l’Arsenal is a fabulous area to relax or take a walk and enjoy the marina at the Canal Saint-Martin right by the Place de la Bastille and very close to the River Seine.

About the Jardin du Port de l’Arsenal



The terraced garden follows the course of the Canal Saint-Martin and the Port de l’Arsenal where you can enjoy numerous different places to relax or take a walk amongst the beautiful greenery and flowers.

There are lovely pergolas, which are even more beautiful in the spring when they are covered in flowers, yet you can discover numerous plants including ivy and honeysuckle plus maple and silk trees, along with grass areas to lay down and bask in the sun, not forgetting the paved areas that are ideal for walking, sitting on the steps admiring the pleasure boats or just meeting up with friends.

Within the Jardin du Port de l’Arsenal there is also a bronze statue of the sculptor Henri Arnold and this was put in place in 1983 when the garden was first created, and you can also discover a restaurant here called Le Grand Bleu, which has lots of terrace seating with sun shades for the warmer months.

Visiting the Jardin du Port de l’Arsenal



You will find the Jardin du Port de l’Arsenal along the bank of the Canal Saint-Martin overlooking the Bassin de l’Arsenal, or the Port de l’Arsenal pleasure boat marina, situated on the Eastern side in the 12th Arrondissement of the city.

This garden in Paris is open daily free of charge between the hours of approximately 8am through to 10pm, although it opens later at a weekend and closes early during the winter months, however, we would like to point out that unfortunately it is not accessible to the disabled, due to there being lots of steps to negotiate.
But when it comes to public transport in Paris, the nearest Metro station is the Bastille stop via lines 1, 5 and 8, or you have the Quai de la Rapee stop serving line 5, which is close to the River Seine and the Pont Morland.

However, the Buses that stop close to the Place de la Bastille via Lines 20, 29, 65, 87 and 91 along with the Noctilien Night Bus Service via lines N02, N11 and N16 will also get you within easy walking distance of the Jardin du Port de l'Arsenal.
