HD photos of the Petit Pont in Paris
This time we were in the 5th Arrondissement of Paris alongside the Ile de la Cite very close to Notre Dame Cathedral, and as you will see from these HD photographs of the Petit Pont, and as the name suggests, it is a small bridge that crosses over the River Seine from Quai Saint-Michel and Quai de Montebello to the Quai du Marche Neuf and Rue de la Cite on the island just in front of Notre Dame.

We took this photo looking upstream of the River Seine towards the Petit Pont that goes from the Quai Saint Michel on the left bank in the 5th Arrondissement, which is actually to the right of the image, and over to the Quai du Marche Neuf on the Ile de la Cite.

This is a close up photo we took of the rather bland, yet practical stone bridge of the Petit Pont that has a span of 32 metres, and we took this image while standing on the Quai Saint-Michel just before we were going to cross it to get to the Ile de la Cite.

This busy and historical area of Paris is popular with tourists, and it was in the 1800s that it was decided that the smaller branch of the River Seine needed to be more navigable by river traffic, and so, the Petit Pont was constructed with only one arch, which is the bridge you can see in this photo with the quayside walkway that goes under this single arched bridge in Paris.

Here you can see a photograph we took showing the amount of tourists and the tour buses utilising the Petit Pont, which was designed by the engineer Alexandre Michal and constructed by Ernest Gariel, which opened in 1853 and has become a very popular crossing point to numerous tourist attractions like the Notre Dame Cathedral.

This is a photo we took of the Petit Pont, which is a single arch bridge going over the small branch of the River Seine that will take you across to the Ile de la Cite right by the parvis of Notre Dame Cathedral, which is the impressive gothic cathedral you can see in the image.
