HD photographs of bell tower and statues on Hotel de Ville - Page 19

We were in the 4th Arrondissement of Paris at the Hotel de Ville, when we took these high definition photos showing the bell tower with some of its statues on this impressive building, which is the largest City Hall in Europe.

This first HD photo shows two of the white winged mythical statues positioned on the black bell tower of the Hotel de Ville, which some people refer to as Chimera, but unfortunately we have been unable to find out any exact details on these, or who sculpted them.

Now in France, rather than called a bell tower, it is often referred to as a Campanile when it is positioned on a roof of a building, especially like a lantern overlooking a civic building, or when it is quite open that can be made of wood or iron, just like you can see on the top of the Paris Hotel de Ville right in the centre between its ornate chimneys and additional statues that adorn this historical building.

However, you will find that the bell tower can be seen from the main facade of the Paris City Hal looking over the Place de l'Hotel de Ville in the 4th Arrondissement on the right bank of the River Seine, and this was reconstructed in a Renaissance style to be almost identical to the former seat of administration and mayors office, which was destroyed in 1871 during the Paris Commune.
