Bien-Assise and more aptly Chateau Camping de la Bien-Assise, as it is a large campsite set within the 18th century park estate of a beautiful chateau.
Suitable for all the family and your beloved pets are allowed to accompany you on your camping holiday in France, even if you have small children it is an ideal place to stay, as it is just off the A16 and close to the Calais ferry crossing port and the Channel tunnel so you will not get the usual “are we there yet” scenario!
There are different sized touring pitches available and there are pitches suitable for tents, caravans, motorhomes and even very large pitches that can accommodate a large outfit or RV and in fact with the pitch we had, we didn’t even need to unhitch the car from our twin axle caravan straight away as the whole thing fitted on easily, still with plenty of room to spare.
But if you do not own anything like this, then you could always choose to rent a wooden chalet, static caravan or even a fully equipped tent, plus there is a small seven bedroom hotel within one of the chateaux outbuildings.
Camping Bien-Assise caters extremely well for children with a covered heated swimming pool, outdoor pool with water slide and childrens pool, plus there are different adventure playgrounds, mini golf and even pony riding available.
There are tennis courts and some outdoor table tennis tables, but even if you do not have your own bats, etc, then these can always be purchased at the onsite shop where they sell all the essentials including yes ice cream! However, when the weather is not so nice you could enjoy a relaxing drink at the bar, spend some time in the games room with its pool table etc, enjoy a meal in the bistro style pub restaurant, sit in the quaint setting next to the lovely old fashioned fireplace or splash out with a meal at the A la Carte restaurant that is actually located in a courtyard that is just behind the bar area.
Rather than having a main meal, there is also a take-away service next to the bar come restaurant with very friendly helpful staff and they do lots of different things such as quiche, chips, pizzas, snacks, etc so that you can always eat out on the terrace or take these back to your pitch to relax in a little more peace.
Now, having a bike is a great way to get around, but if you do not have your own you can hire these out, but one things we really liked was the fact that you get little passages between the trees and bushes for walking to and from the different areas of this well maintained campsite in France, although some touring pitches were a reasonable walk from the heated shower block and toilets.
